Harvest

Lately, God has been impressing on my heart the importance of being faithful in the season that He has me in right now. Because if I do remain faithful in serving Him, then it will yield a good harvest. In Galatians the Bible says:

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

(NIV, Galatians 6:9)

I find this verse to be very encouraging. It pretty much says that if we just remain faithful in the season that God has us in and don’t give up, then it will be all worth it in due time.

Now success in our eyes may be different from what God views as success. We may not get riches or fame or any other thing that the world defines as success. But we may become more Christlike, and our lives may bring glory to God as a result of us being faithful.

Now we may wonder with what God wants us to be faithful. What if we don’t know what God is calling us to in the current season? We may find it hard to discern God’s will in our service to Him, but we can trust in God who is leading us. As we submit every decision to Him, pray about it, and ask God for wisdom, He will guide us. The Bible says:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.”

(ESV, Proverbs 3:5-6)

I love the idea of living out God’s will one step at a time. A year ago, I wanted God to just reveal His entire will for me all at once and with all the details. But that’s not how it works. But God has revealed His will to me step by step in all the small decisions I have been making. And as I prayed about those decisions and submitted them to Him, He did give me wisdom and guided me.

To live in the center of God’s will, we cannot expect to discover God’s will for our life all at once. It’s about walking faithfully with God and then as a result ending up in the center of His will. I love this quote by Henry Blackaby that sums it up well: “If we walk with Him closely today, we will be in the center of His will tomorrow.”

God gave me a vision for my art and my life in general. The vision is blurry but it is becoming more and more clear as I continue walking with God. I still don’t know the “how” to a lot of things I believe God wants me to do. But the good news is that I don’t have to concern myself with the how. I just have to be walking faithfully with God in the current season, and He will reveal to me the “how” as I walk with Him.
