Simple Life

This painting was inspired by the personal struggle I had with feeling behind in life, in terms of what I have accomplished so far.

While the world urges us to do more, accomplish more, and cram as many things as we possibly can into our schedule, God offers an alternative approach to life.

We don’t need to put undue amounts of pressure on ourselves, subconsciously believing the world depends on us. It depends on God. We depend on God. And as we walk in the Spirit, He will help us to accomplish His will.

I hope this painting serves as a reminder to us of the meaningful yet simple life Jesus offers to us. A life where we can have peace of mind. A life where we find fulfillment in doing God’s will in the season that He has us in right now, without rushing to the next season or comparing our season to someone else’s season.

Jesus didn’t promise us an easy, struggle-free life. But He did promise to be there for us and to share our burdens, helping us along the way as we continue walking with Him & loving those around us in the season He has us in.

Jesus said:

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give.”

NLT, John 14:27a

I painted the light coming from behind the mountains to signify God’s grace pouring out on us even in spite of all the things we have done wrong in our lives. Nothing is too great for God to forgive if we truly seek Him and ask for his forgiveness. Through faith in Jesus, we can have a personal relationship with God.

I chose to use a vibrant green color for the painting to signify that we are a new creature in Christ. Sometimes we may feel guilty about all the time we have wasted in the past or things we have done. But as a child of God, we are given a clean slate. We don’t have to be slaves to our past anymore. We can start fresh.
