Winter Home

I enjoyed painting a home with the warm glow coming out the windows and a Christmas tree that can be seen from the outside. I also placed little candles in the window. Looking at the home just gives me that sense of well-being and happy anticipation of Christmas. But it’s important to remember the true reason for the joy we have on Christmas.

“Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot.”

NLT, Isaiah 11:1

I painted the stump to represent the family line of David left for dead. But there is a shoot coming out of it even in spite of a cold winter. That green small shoot that will grow into a big three represents the humble birth of Jesus in Bethlehem that would eventually lead to Jesus conquering sin and death.

The little shoot represents hope. The hope we can have in Jesus if we trust Him with our lives. The Bible says:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

NIV, John 3:16

Jesus’s birth is the reason we celebrate Christmas. And His death on the cross for our sins and resurrection after three days is the reason for the hope we have.
